OCU selected for Ministry of Education COI STREAM Program
Osaka City University (OCU) has been selected by the Ministry of Education as a research center for the COI STREAM COI-T (trial) program ‘Realizing a next-generation hydrogen energy society’.
The research center will consist of the main research location at Osaka City University, a collaborative research location at Osaka Prefecture University and a satellite research location at the University of Hyogo. The research will focus on photosynthesis and artificial photosynthesis, to develop technology for hydrogen energy production and storage, a clean, safe, secure and sustainable energy source.
The research center’s headquarters will be located in the OCU Center for Health Science Innovation at Grand Front Osaka, a central location, to facilitate smooth communication between the three universities, offering possibilities for face-to-face communication and ICT facilities so all parties involved can share information optimally.

COI-T centers serve as candidate centers for the COI program and carry out short-term (maximum 2 years), small-scale (budgeted at only several ten millions of yen per year) research on essential technologies and concepts for one of the COI STREAM program subjects.
