Welcome Festival for New International Students

Along with the welcome festival, a tea ceremony is held with cooperation between the International Student Council, the volunteer group for international student support, the tea ceremony club "Rikyu-kai," and the Osaka City University Student Support Department. This is an occasion for interchange with the members of "RIKYU-KAI" and for gaining a taste of Japanese culture.

Day Trip

This one-day chartered bus trip provides an opportunity to visit some spots not usually seen by travelers from abroad. Experience Japanese culture and nature, while getting to know more about Japan. In 2007, we tried Tachikui ceramic pottery-making and visited a Japanese sake brewery.

Bazaar Supports for International Students

This bazaar is designed to assist international students studying at Osaka City University. Daily necessities are available, as are electrical appliances, tableware, clothing, and more -- all at low prices. Hand-made snacks are served by volunteers and interchange between all groups is encouraged.

International Student Festival

This is an interchange session for international and Japanese students, and teachers. In 2007, we held the festival under the theme: "A Day to Experience International Cuisine and Cultures". It offered enhanced opportunities for friendship through cooking and Japanese koto and jazz music.

Supplemental Japanese Language Course

A supplemental Japanese language course is offered every Monday (28 classes a year) for students who are concerned about their Japanese language skills. This course is designed for foreign students who are enrolled at our university and are at elementary or intermediate levels in their language studies. The course is free.
