Jakarta Institute of the Arts Rector visits Osaka City University

Rector Wagiono Sunarto and Professor Subarkah Hadisardjana of the Jakarta Institute of the Arts met with President Yoshiki Nishizawa, Vice-President Michio Miyano and Professor Shin Nakagawa of OCU on 24 October.

The visit marks the workshop and performance on 29 and 30 October of 'Body on the Borderline', a cooperative project of the Jakarta Institute of the Arts and OCU, realized with funds from the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs and support from the Consulate General of the Republic Indonesia. Both the workshop and the performance took place in the Tanaka Memorial Hall at the OCU Sugimoto Campus.

The aim of the meeting was to discuss possibilities for an academic exchange agreement and further cooperation between the Jakarta Institute of the Arts and OCU.

The Jakarta Institute of the Arts is a private university, established by the City of Jakarta in 1970 and is located within the Jakarta Art Center. It has 1600 students and 266 full time teaching staff. Its education and research emphasizes the relation between art, society and economy within an urban context and the institute delivers very resourceful graduates. It has 3 faculties: performing arts, visual media, and fine arts. 10 members participated in the performance at OCU.
