The construction work on the new Global Village is steadily progressing. Electricity work and reinforcement of the floor has already been completed.
Work will now start on the removal and relocation of partition walls, installation of a kitchen sink and laying the woodgrain-style carpet tiles to complete the original design.
Automatic doors will be installed and the airport-theme runway lines will be drawn on the floor.
In the meantime, the furniture is being brought in and assembled.
The photo below shows stools that students assembled and painted in a work shop a little while ago. The tables that are designed in the shape of paper airplanes also arrived, giving life to the airport runway theme.
This wall will be fitted with an enormous map world map. With magnets students will be able to attach photos of their hometown or of the country they went to on student exchange.
The vending machine with fresh coffee and other delicious drinks will be moved to the Global Village when it opens.
One of the walls will be made into a giant whiteboard, for presentations or projections. We will also install a large-screen television, which was a generous gift from the OCU Education Supporters Association, so students can watch international tv channels.
We will explain more again next time!
Everybody’s working hard to realize a space where our national and international students will all feel at home and can meet, study and have fun. Looking forward to the opening!
