Osaka City University invited Dr. Michael Nobel as part of its fellowship program for prominent international researchers. On this occasion, the university organized a special symposium on 28 October 2015 in cooperation with the Catalysis Society of Japan (Research Division of Catalytic Biomass Conversion).
The symposium drew 112 participants who were able to enjoy the keynote lecture by Dr. Nobel, titled “The Innovative Genius of the Nobel Brothers and the Nobel Prizes”. In the lecture he explained the origin of the Nobel Prize, shared interesting and amazing background stories about the family, especially about the life of Alfred Nobel, and showed the audience precious photo material.
The second half of the symposium consisted of field-specific lectures by Professor Licheng Sun of the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Professor Keiichi Tomishige of Tohoku University and Professor Michikazu Hara of the Tokyo Institute of Technology.
The OCU Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis (ReCAP), together with Dr. Nobel, has established the ‘Michael Nobel Laboratory’ within ReCAP. We hope that this laboratory will offer new opportunities to strengthen our international network.
