On 20 January President Arakawa kicked off the New Year by inviting international and Japanese students for a very special dinner event. President Arakawa prepared his famous beef stew, from an original recipe he got back when he was studying abroad himself.

It was the third time President Arakawa held a ‘Cooking with the President’ event at the Global Village. This time more than 40 people attended, including special guest Hiroshi Tsuji, the President of Osaka Prefecture University, who brought lettuce from their university’s plant factory.

After the opportunity for students to freely chat with both Presidents, students were asked to roll a dice. The number corresponded with a specific subject, which the student then had to talk about in English, resulting in many interesting stories and anecdotes.
