OCU to offer its first online JMOOC courses

JMOOC is a Japanese Massive Online Open Course platform where universities and companies offer high-quality courses free and available for anyone, with the possibility for successful participants to obtain certificates. JMOOC was established in 2014 and has already offered approximately 140 courses to more than 500,000 participants of all ages.

OCU has now joined the JMOOC platform and will offer its first two courses starting from 14 February 2017 (both courses are taught in Japanese).

Course 1: Urban Disaster Risks and Preparation

161221-2.jpgJapan often suffers natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, typhoons, heavy rainfall and landslides. The course shows what risks this poses for urban areas, how they can prepare for disasters and how they can react when a disaster occurs, both at an individual and local level.

Course 2: Arts Power and Management

By Professor Shin NAKAGAWA (Graduate School of Literature and Human Sciences) and Dr. Rii NUMATA (Postdoctoral Researcher)

Not limited to museums and theaters art has been infiltrating society, growing closer also to people who are going through serious difficulties. The course will show you examples of art projects in the field and how it influences and changes through its interaction with people and society.
