2017 Entrance Ceremony
OCU welcomed its new students at the 2017 Entrance Ceremony, held on 5 April 2017 at the Osaka Municipal Central Gymnasium. This year 1,540 undergraduate students, 18 transfer students, 481 master students, 129 doctoral students and 19 Law School students enrolled.
Welcome speech by OCU President Arakawa Congratulatory speech by the Mayor of Osaka
After President Tetsuo Arakawa’s welcome speech in which he spoke about the history of Osaka City University, the Mayor of Osaka Hirofumi Yoshimura delivered a congratulatory speech, followed by a message from the Chairman of the OCU Education Supporters Association read out by its Secretary General Isao Yuasa, and speeches by two student representatives. Yuki Tsutsui of the Faculty of Business represented the undergraduate students and Mana Kawasaki of the Graduate School of Literature and Human Sciences represented the graduate students.
The speeches were followed by a joint performance of the OCU Chorus ‘Friede’, Mixed Chorus and Glee Club and a music performance by the OCU Symphony Orchestra, bringing the ceremony to an end.
