Press release in Japanese here

Osaka City University (OCU) joined in the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) in June, 2018.

UNAI is a programme of the Outreach Division of the Department of Public Information. All member universities are requested to promote programs and activities based on the basic principles of UNAI.

All faculties in OCU will commit academic duties and activities commissioned by the UN including sustainable development goals (SDGs) as well as support and promote approaches especially related to the following six basic principles.

【Principles that OCU is to work on】
Principle 1: A commitment to the principles inherent in the United Nations Charter as values that education seeks to promote and help fulfill;
Principle 4: A commitment to the opportunity for every interested individual to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for the pursuit of higher education;
Principle 6:  A commitment to encouraging global citizenship through education;
Principle 8: A commitment to addressing issues of poverty through education;
Principle 9: A commitment to promoting sustainability through education;
Principle 10: A commitment to promoting inter-cultural dialogue and understanding, and the “unlearning” of intolerance, through education.

President Arakawa's Comments

The whole faculty of OCU has been working on "globalization” by making global human resources development as one of the priority strategies. Many of the approaches we fulfilled so far have already committed to some of the principles and I have determined that we will try to make further efforts to pursue more.
Participation in UNAI as a foothold, we will deepen our relations with other higher educational institutes, promote efforts of our own way and actively send information to the world.
