140th Anniversary Logo Design Committee Found a Winner!
A total of 1903 ballots was received for the Osaka City University (OCU)’s 140th Anniversary Logo Design. Out of the six designs shortlisted by the OCU 140th Anniversary Committee, the general public selected Mr. Haruo Hamaguchi’s design as the winner!
Many thanks to those who participated in the design contest as well as those who voted. The selected logo will be used at events, etc., in and outside of the university for advertising our 140th anniversary.
・The anniversary is symbolized by overlaying the OCU logo on the number 140.
・Six free and dynamic lines illustrate OCU’s slogan "history, tradition x appreciation, pride x innovation and leap".
・The logo shows OCU leaping and expanding to the future.
Comments by the logo’s designer Mr. Haruo Hamaguchi
Thank you for adopting my design as the OCU 140th anniversary logo.
I feel very honored to know that this was the result of ballots placed by many people. I spent my 20s and 30s in Osaka. At the time, I lived near OCU and participated in several events. I was surprised by the large-scale events, like the university’s festivals, and how incomparable they were to my local university. Those memories are nostalgic to me. I felt a bond with OCU.
I hope from the bottom of my heart that my logo will help OCU in its future developments.
