White Coat Ceremony, 21 December, 2019
The AY 2019 “white coat ceremony” was held on Saturday 21 December, 2019 on the 4F Lecture Hall, Faculty of Medicine, Abeno Campus.
Since 2015, the white coat ceremony has been awarding white coats to each new 5th-year student of the Faculty of Medicine as they start their clinical training to motivate them to work hard and develop their awareness, responsibility and high ambition as a student doctor.
Professor Kenji Ohata, Dean of Faculty of Medicine gave the opening address with Dr. Hiromichi Ikuno, Chairman of the Alumni Association for the School of Medicine and 10 professors sending words of encouragement to the students. Afterwards, Professor Ohata, Dr, Ikuno and Professor Shuto, Chair of the Academic Affairs Committee presented 3 student representatives with brand new white coats and Mr. Yuki Mano took an oath on behalf of the students.
“Be grateful to everyone around you and become a doctor who puts patients first and stays close to them.”, closed Professor Taichi Shuto to a room full of students listening intently.
* The student representatives were those with the top three results from the CBT (Computer Based Knowledge Evaluation Test), a common achievement test conducted at medical universities, and the oath was performed by the top of these three students.
