The book "Japanese Political Theater in the 18th Century: Bunraku Puppet Plays in Social Context" by Professor Akihiro Odanaka (Graduate School of Literature　and Human Sciences), published by Routledge is about bunraku performances in Osaka during the 18th century. Eight major works are discussed from their political implications - a completely different approach.
