On Friday, 7 January 2022, at the main conference room of the Media Center, President Tetsuo Arakawa delivered his final New Year's Address. To prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, this year's address was held both in person and online.

At the beginning of the speech, President Arakawa, who wore a handmade tiger mask to put a smile on everyone's face, talked about the two years of the coronavirus pandemic that the entire faculty and staff had fought through together. He talked about last year, the second year of the pandemic, which was full of learning from the experiences of the first year, and of being brave yet sensitive during that challenge. In addition, he mentioned that the university provided vaccinations in the workplace at a relatively early stage and has been able to respond to the ever-changing educational situation. President thanked everyone in the relevant departments for their cooperation.

He concluded the address by expressing his determination for the remaining three months of his term.
