On Wednesday, June 30, 2021, the Faculty Activity Commendation Ceremony was held in the Researcher Exchange Room on the 10th floor of the Media Center.

　There were two types of commendations for faculty activities: "General Commendation" and "Special Commendation". The General Commendation, which is given to mid-career and below faculty members with outstanding achievements, honors their efforts in the five areas of education, research, educational research activities of young faculty members, the President's priorities, and other activities that contribute to university management.

　The Special Commendation, which is given to faculty members with particularly outstanding achievements, is designed to recognize their achievements and express appreciation for their contributions to the enhancement of the university's presence.

　At the ceremony, adhering to all measures to prevent the spread of infection, President Tetsuo Arakawa carefully presented certificates to the recipients.

　Associate Professor Kohei Saito, who received the Special Commendation, said, "I came to Osaka City University four years ago, and I have been surrounded by wonderful professors, making here an enriching research environment. Until a while ago, the public tended to say, 'Marxian economics is out of fashion,' but now people are saying I am in the media too much. Of course, along with getting my new research paper ready, I will continue to contribute to the university. Thank you very much. 

　President Arakawa said, "This commendation is for everyone’s activities while dealing with the influence of COVID-19. I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the recipients. While measures to prevent infection are still ongoing, I hope that you will continue to take leadership in the fields of research, education, international public relations, etc., with a positive attitude that sees hard times as opportunities. I hope you will continue the tradition of OCU and play an even more active role in the new university, which is scheduled to open in April 2022.
