On Thursday, April 8, 2021, a kick-off ceremony for the artificial turf field of the track and field stadium was held to commemorate the 140th anniversary of Osaka City University. On the day of the ceremony, all possible measures against COVID-19 were taken, and everyone involved in the renovation of the artificial turf field was present.
For the renovations, donations were made to the Osaka City University Dream Fund from many people, including alumni and parents. The ground will be used for physical education classes and club activities and will also be used by the local community for many other purposes.
At the ceremony, President Arakawa gave a speech, followed by congratulatory words from Mr. Kazuo Kinameri (Executive Vice President, Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd., OCU Faculty of Business, Class of 1979) and Mr. Yuichi Yoshida (Vice President, Osaka City University Sports Association OCUSA, OCU Faculty of Business, Class of 1987). Mr. Ryo Hirai, captain of the rugby club, expressed his determination on behalf of the students and sports clubs.
Athletes from the American football, soccer, rugby, and track and field teams also participated as representatives of the sports clubs whose main activities are held on this ground. A kick-off ceremony was held in which players commemoratively kicked a ball.
The cheerleading squad wrapped things up with a shout out to the students, wishing them good luck on the newly renovated ground. We look forward to the future activities of the students.
