On Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021, former president of Osaka City University, Professor Emeritus Satoru Kaneko (Graduate School of Science) and Professor Emeritus Yukio Tsushima (Graduate School of Science), have been awarded the Order of the Sacred Treasure in recognition of their many years of distinguished service to education and research.

Words from the awardees: Professor Emeritus Satoru Kaneko

I am happy to be honored with the Order of the Sacred Treasure, recommended by Osaka City University. I would like to express my deep gratitude to all the faculty members and related staff of Osaka City University and Soai University.

Looking back, I was president of Osaka City University when I helped with its incorporation in 2006. This achievement was thanks to the support of my surrounding staff and the vice president at that time. This experience of incorporation is currently being utilized by management at Soai University.

On the research side, I think pioneering Japanese religious research using social psychological methods has received high evaluations.

While I am still energetic, I hope to contribute to school education and societies that are deserving of the award.

Words from the awardees: Professor Emeritus Yukio Tsushima

This time, I am struck by the honor of receiving the Order of the Sacred Treasure, and I feel the utmost joy.

I have been involved in education and research for 39 years since I was hired by OCU as an assistant in the Faculty of Science in 1966. During that time, I was able to fully devote myself to research in mathematics in an excellent research environment comparable to that of a first-class national university, which I believe led to my receiving this award..

I will continue to do my best, undeterred by this honor, while paying attention to my health.
