A presentation titled “Afghanistan Day – Afghanistan and Women’s Education” was held in Tsukuruma, located on the 1st floor of Media Center, on Thursday 12 July 2018.

Ms Sadaf Habibi, an international student from Afghanistan, in her first year at the master course of Graduate School of Science, was a speaker of the day. Even under circumstances of discriminatory attitudes and little understanding toward women’s access to education, she gave a presentation in front of public with some photos that it is also true more women have advanced into society and played active roles in her country.

As her supervisor Professor Futoshi Takahashi, Graduate School of Science,  introduced her, Ms Habibi herself is one of the pioneers and has coped positively with research activities as well as household tasks.

Although it was held during a short lunch time, not only students, faculty, staff members but also people outside of the OCU community, learned different culture from the women’s educational point of view with interest.

Global Exchange Office will continue to plan events to introduce different cultures similar to this event.
